Here is a breakdown of which type of case gets funded most commonly through my office:
January 21, 2009
I have been doing lawsuit funding as a broker now for 4.5 years. It is very interesting to take a look back and see what the numbers look like. For instance, 80% of the motor vehicle lawsuit cash advances that I have funded the plaintiff was hit while either at a red light or a stop sign!
Makes you a little uneasy if you think about it. What the hell are people doing as they approach a stop? But then again, most people aren’t consciously driving their vehicle.
99% of the lawsuits that receive funding through my office are motor vehicle accidents. Part of the remaining 1% is the slip and fall. I usually instantly decline these because they are so difficult to fund. The reason is the liability is so difficult to prove. Their usually is a lack of documentation to support it as well. The damages are usually low - meaning the person rarely has even a herniated disk.
Another part of the remaining 1% is the medical malpractice lawsuit. Again, very difficult to fund because of liability reasons. But as far as damages it is much different than the slip and fall. They are usually very serious.
The final remaining part of the 1% is the workers compensation case. Only few states even allow lawsuit cash advances to be drawn on this type of case which makes it a low performer.
Most websites including mine list more than a dozen different case types that they can fund, but usually decline. That has been the experience through my office. A person told me the other day he called on once of the companies that does lawsuit funding on a commercial case - breach of contract because they listed it on their website and he was told that they don’t do those. He asked them why they have it listed on their website and they didn’t have an answer. IT WAS FOR SEARCH ENGINE REASONS ONLY.
So, ignore the big list of case types I fund. Yes, I am glad to always try and see if we can get you a lawsuit cash advance, but after reading this post you would be mistaken to bank on the fact that you could get lawsuit funding for most cases outside of the 4 I listed above and I don’t want you to get excited to only have your hopes crushed.
Using Craigslist to find people who need lawsuit cash advances. by Rob Thomas
January 10, 2009
Today you will see many options for lawsuit advance/lawsuit cash advance. Used to you would only find this many options for lawsuit funding in the cheap free papers i.e. The Flyer, Pennysaver, Thrifty Nickel, The Greensheet, etc. the ads would read: “In a lawsuit? Injured? Need cash now? Call 123-456-7890″. This is changing month after month. More and more individuals are finding Craigslist to be a good source for settlement funding.
Having a choice is a great thing. Knowing how to select the right person to give you a lawsuit advance is even better. I have written an article on what to ask when selecting a lawsuit funding broker. I do not advocate going directly to a company. Use a broker, their job is to get you the best deal and you usually pay nothing for their service. You can use the article to gain more control over the lawsuit cash advance process.
Thank you Craigslist for connecting lawsuit funding brokers and those needing settlement funding!
Dallas Texas Now Has a Local Resource for Lawsuit Cash Avances, Otherwise Known as Presettlement Funding!
January 4, 2009
Having a local resource is important. Not just in the world of lawsuit cash advance, but for most need based decisions.
Most people who get lawsuit cash advances directly through funding sources do not have this luxury. There is no relationship. The person who helped you get an advance could care less about you.
Law firms are looking for a face. They want someone local. They want one person to count on to help their clients. I am REAL to my firms. The funding sources are not as real. Instead, they are just a voice or a document, stationery, etc.
I have relationships with many firms in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Clearwater, Naples, Sarasota, Bradenton, New Port Richey, Lutz, St. Petersburg and Tampa. Tampa is where it all started for me in presettlement funding.
I am a broker located in Dallas now but visit Tampa and the cities around it often. I am actively building relationships in your area, possibly even with the firm you hired.
To learn more about lawsuit cash advances take the time to read my blog. You will be glad you did and you will have more control over the transaction if you do.

I love having this kind of effect on people. It is obvious from above that people like getting lawsuit cash advances. This client has received two lawsuit advances. Are you next?
You don’t really want a lawsuit cash advance, you want something else!
December 21, 2008
As your broker I am smart enough to know that when you are looking for a lawsuit cash advance or lawsuit funding you are really looking for something else. You are looking for a solution but it goes even deeper. The problem is different for each of you.
Some of you are getting ready to lose your house. Others are getting evicted. I have also dealt with people who want to leverage a higher settlement offer from their defendant. Do you have money for food? Many don’t. The problems are almost without number. The solution is the lawsuit cash advance. But it goes deeper.
By getting lawsuit funding or a lawsuit cash advance you aren’t just looking for the solution. You are looking for what solving the problem does for you. How it makes you feel, what it allows you to do.
When you are considering getting a lawsuit cash advance make sure the broker or settlement funding company understands what you are really trying to do.
Does the Bailout situation affect lawsuit cash advances? by Rob Thomas
December 2, 2008
This was my first question too. How will my clients ability to get a lawsuit cash advance be affected? Does it tighten the supply? Will the finance companies start declining good cases?
Nope, we are in what is known as the secondary market. The primary market = banks and traditional or PUBLIC institutions. Because we are in the secondary market that is outperforming the stock market handsomely, there are more and more funds to invest in lawsuit cash advances. Think of it this way: When the stock market is volatile, people go into real estate to invest and vice versa but now both are no bueno.
So now a private investor can invest in a whole new asset class: Lawsuit Settlements. Many are investing now because stocks are not safe when you don’t control whether they go up or down and thanks to the follies of the mortgage industry, the real estate world has been affected as well.
Now is as good as time as any to get a lawsuit cash advance.
Short on money for the holidays? Get a lawsuit cash advance!
November 13, 2008
Let’s face it, Christmas really is already on people’s minds and the retailers are definitely causing this to happen. With sales being lower than they have been for a while, you can bet that as soon as the calendar turned up November, the retailers were ready to get in your mind about Christmas and the offerings they have in store. Central Market is a grocery store by my house and they already have Christmas trees on top of their building. Kay jewelers is already putting their Christmas ads out.
Here we go.
Well, that is IF you have money for the season. But what if you don’t? Is there a solution?
YES. It’s called a lawsuit cash advance and for those of you who are in a lawsuit and have more severe injuries than just whiplash, this is a great solution for you.
The benefit of a lawsuit cash advance? Get money now but don’t have to pay it back unless your case settles in your favor! How Cool! Most people are going to spend their faces off but will have a huge bill the next month. In addition, unlike the rest of the world, you aren’t creating any additional debt because we are advancing you your own money. The benefit of a lawsuit cash advance I almost forgot to mention is that you don’t have to tell your kids or your significant other “Sorry we won’t be able to have a Christmas this year.”

How not to be treated by a lawsuit cash advance funder or broker. By Rob Thomas
October 30, 2008
Ok, I gotta say it only because I am hearing this from so many people who call me and tell me how they are being treated in this world we call lawsuit funding.
If you call a lawsuit funding source directly or whether you call a broker to get your lawsuit cash advance and all they do is try and “corral you into an app” by asking you for your name, address, etc. stop them in their tracks and tell them, “You arent getting another question answered by me, as a matter of fact, I have questions for you…..” See my other blog under the “lawsuit cash advance” category on what to ask. It is very important that you know this otherwise, you lack control of the process. Want more control? Know more. That which you don’t know CAN harm you. Whoever it was that said it couldn’t was a moron.
Recently I gained a client thanks to a funding source that starts with a “P” because they lied to them and told them when they called in “we can get 10k on this”. There is no way that “P” would know without looking at documents first. The client hadn’t even given them an aplication yet. But they didn’t know and trusted them. Needless to say they didn’t get my client the 10k (much less actually) and my client is willing to pay a little more in interest to switch to me because I was honest with them.
There is always someone out there who was meant to serve you. Truth trumps everything.
Don’t be the victim. Knowledge equals the opportunity for more control. Now that you know, exert control!
Are you an Ideal Client for Presettlement Funding?
October 27, 2008
I get calls all day long from people who are looking to get presettlement funding also known as lawsuit advances. The severity of their injuries range from “soft tissue” to “catastrophic”. Let me explain:
90-95% of a lawfirm’s inventory are cases that fit under the category of “soft tissue”. This means there is no disk damage, fracture or broken bones. This is great! I always feel empathy for the person who calls with the catastrophic injury and truly they are the ones whom the lawsuit advance industry was created for.
But, seeing that 90-95% of the motor vehicle accident lawsuits are soft tissue I can’t leave them without the opportunity to recover money for the time they have not been able to work. I found a company that will fund soft tisuue cases. The only drawback is that it grows at 8.99% interest monthly for 2 years. This means after 2 years it stops accumulating interest. For those of you who are a soft tissue case we can still get you a lawsuit advance! You pay nothing unless and until the case settles.
The catastrophic cases are ideal and here’s why:
1. The cases are always bigger than soft tissue cases so there is actually room to advance money and have it grow at interest.
2. The injury is more severe than a soft tissue case so it yields more money at settlement from the insurance companies.
3. The plaintiff usually cannot work, literally, physically speaking. On soft tissue cases, the plaintiff usually is back at work pretty quickly.
4. Seeing that the injury is so bad, the liability (meaning who was liable) is usually stronger.
I am willing to serve both catastrophic cases and soft tissue cases and I find that my ideal client has the following qualities:
1. They have already made a decision that they want a lawsuit advance/help.
2. They have decided they want a broker to handle it for them (no cost to them with me).
3. They are honest with me about their injuries.
4. They move fast.
5. They are grateful.
6. They expect good service.
7. They expect the lowest rates.
8. They listen to me so they understand better.
9. They follow my lead.
10. They are a team player.
These are the people who energize and inspire me and ALLOW me to do my best work. I will dive after a rolling donut on a gravel highway for these people because my morale is so high.

I have a bailout plan for those in lawsuits who need money now, it’s called a lawsuit cash advance! by Rob Thomas
October 17, 2008
Since AIG and many other companies are receiving bail outs I figured I would blog about lawsuit cash advances and how they can bail you out.
Those of you in Florida and Texas may be feeling the case draggin out a little yes?? Ready for it to settle so that you can move on with your life? Well I have been told by those who work in the firms in Texas and Florida that it is taking longer for cases to settle. Insurance companies are probably at the cause of this because they aren’t earning profits as fast as they did during the bull market.
I also think the legal system has something to do with that as well but can’t confirm anything. What I can confirm is that you aren’t causing it.
Are you in a personal injury lawsuit, worker’s compensation lawsuit, or other kinds of lawsuits listed on this website?
If so you can get your BAIL OUT now by getting a lawsuit cash advance with the nation’s most referred broker - Rob Thomas. Call me at 727-735-1483. See my testimonial page if you are curious to see what my clients think about this process.
